In a brazen Sunday night break in at the Future Shop in Town Center, over one hundred laptops worth over $70,000 were stolen. The store is in the Plaza at 310 North Service Road W.
Just like in a crime movie, the thieves gained entrance by cutting a hole in the roof of the neighboring Chapters Book store and then went down in to the bookstore store room.
They then simply broke through the drywall wall in to the electronics store.
The removed the booty through the same hole they made, all while a store employee was actually present in the Future shop but thought the noises were workmen next store.
The theft was only discovered after the employee attempted to access the storeroom which was barricaded.
It seems that the thieves knew the layout of the backrooms of both stores and meticulously planned the break-in.
The Halton Regional Police Service is continuing to investigate this incident and anyone with information relevant to it is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
